Our Program Appetites

Meadowbrook's programs are underwritten for select classes of property and casualty business where we believe sound prospects for generating underwriting profits exist. We have a significant concentration in workers' compensation and commercial package business.

Our insurance programs operate on a regional or state-specific basis. Generally, our producers are local or regional insurance agents that possess expertise in their specialty areas of concentration.

Program insureds are generally small-to-medium sized businesses and professionals. Our preference is to use industry standard coverage forms. We generally avoid geographic concentration of risks that might unexpectedly lead to natural or intentionally caused catastrophic events.

Attributes we seek in a successful program:

• Proven loss history (five years preferred)
• Agency expertise in the class of business
• Established distribution system
• Stability in past carrier relationships
• Competitive market intelligence
• Risk sharing options available (however, not required)

We generally avoid the following characteristics when considering programs:

• Start up programs or programs that lack historical profitability
• Under priced commodity business driven by market share goals
• Risk-sharing programs which lack adequate capital from a partner
• Programs requiring carrier aggregate stop loss provisions
• Currently, limited California Workers' Compensation
• Nursing homes / Assisted living facilities
• Limited long-haul trucking
